No Dig, August 2: Farewell June, Tonight: National Night Out, Chinatown business press conference, First Friday art
Our dear friend, neighbor and North Beach activist June Osterberg passed away early Monday morning, August 1, 2016, at The Avenue Assisted Living, located on Van Ness at Geary. She was a long-time resident of North Beach, at the corner of Columbus and Filbert, and was active in preserving the character of North Beach and San Francisco.
She was bright and energetic up until her health took a downturn several weeks ago. A date for her memorial and other details will be forthcoming. A brief bio of June.

Each year, the SFPD Central Station and other law enforcement agencies have had a large turn out and it is an excellent way to meet your neighbors and partner with us. This gathering also sends a message that we are standing together against crime in our neighborhood!

100 community members including residents and small business owners
will host a press conference regarding the vacant storefronts of
Chinatown. Treehouse Space, formerly 1920C, has performed research
on the vacancies of Chinatown proper. While the rest of the Bay Area
seems to be prospering, Chinatown’s economy has been decaying for the
last 5 years.
