BOS Tues interim Mayor meeting - attend and offer public comment
January 23, 2018 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
San Francisco City Hall, Room 250
The SF Board of Supervisors will consider several agenda items beginning at 3pm Tuesday having to do with taking nominations for and appointing an interim Mayor.
The public is encouraged to attend and offer comments. Some talking points:
- London Breed became acting Mayor upon the death of Mayor Lee in December. She is also president of the Board of Supervisors. It is undemocratic for one person to lead both he Executive and Legislative branches of SF's government.
- Breed has filed to run for Mayor in the June 2018 election. Several others including one current supervisor have also filed to run. If Breed continues as acting Mayor leading up to the election she would have an unfair advantage as an apparent incumbent.
- To solve these two problems the Board has proposed appointing a "caretaker" Mayor, who would not run for Mayor in the June election.
